On 1st August 2007 Minova RSA, the trading name of Stratabolt (Pty) Ltd, concluded an agreement with Autorock Drills (Pty) Ltd, whereby it acquired the business of Autorock Drills, as a going concern with effect from the 1st March 2007. In terms of the agreement Mr Frank Johnson, the founding member will be employed by Minova RSA from the 1st August 2007.
Autorock developed, and has successfully introduced small, manually operated roofbolting rigs to the South African platinum and gold mines. These rigs have been instrumental in the growth of rockbolting – especially the use of resin capsules – in the hard-rock mines over the past few years. Minova RSA sees strong synergies between the Autorock drilling technology and its range of rockbolting systems, with the increasing use of each supporting the other.
