(100427) At the BAUMA 2010 trade fair in Munich, Minova International showed why it has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading innovators in the mining, tunneling and civil construction industries.

The company’s expertise in a range of exciting technologies was on show with presentations of three new products – Thin Spray Liners, Solar Frame and the Quickbolt/Quicklagging anchoring system.

Thin Spray Liner or TSL has a similar strength to shotcrete, but is only a fraction of the thickness and much easier to apply. Minova showed a range of TSL products for both underground mines and tunnels, included an improved waterproofing membrane, Tekflex, and rock support membrane, Capcem.

Solar Frame is an innovative system for solar power stations, featuring UV-resistant glass reinforced fibre. This is a world-first material developed by Minova International and its associated company, FiReP.

Quickbolt is a hollow bolt that combines resin injection and bolt installation in one step. It works in conjunction with Quicklagging mesh to create a new generation of anchoring systems with exceptional productivity and safety benefits.

Minova International had a team of technical experts at BAUMA and fielded many enquiries about its featured products. The number of visitors to BAUMA was steady with the previous show in 2007, despite massive interruption to air travel early in the week caused by Iceland’s volcano. At the Minova stand, we were pleased to have almost double the number of enquiries compared to three years ago.

It was also a great opportunity to meet many new and potential customers and learn about their specific needs for improving safety and productivity. After all, that’s how all of our great innovations begin.
