Minova Switzerland
Minova’s business in Switzerland has been a world leader in rock support, resins and cements for tunneling projects for almost three decades.
The business was established in 1982, shortly after Minova’s successful involvement in the Furka Tunnel in Switzerland. This was the first major civil project in the world to use resins for rock stabilisation and groundwater control.
Tunneling continues to be the major market for Minova in Switzerland, with the balance generated by civil engineering projects.
The Birmensdorf-based company employs 30 staff and is led by civil engineer, Charles Bitz.
“Tunneling is a growth industry all around Europe, particularly in Spain and in many of the stronger economies of Central and Eastern Europe.
“The expertise that Minova pioneered and developed in many projects in the Swiss Alps is increasingly in demand.”
Bitz says Minova’s recent acquisitions in France, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic of manufacturers of steel bolts and supports had brought an unmatched range of products into the Minova group.
“We have more solutions and more expertise than ever before.”
Minova Switzerland recently moved to 100% ownership of a Carspach (Alsace)-based company that manufactures Ancrall brand steel bolting systems.
“The specific strength of our manufacturing base in France is its ability to quickly develop new products in response to the evolving needs of customers, particularly in the tunneling market.”
