Minova Ukraine
Minova is expanding rapidly in Ukraine, which is second only to Russia in coal reserves among all countries in Europe and Eurasia.
In 2008, Minova established a wholly owned business in Ukraine and built a plant to manufacture a range of steel bolts.
New facilities for manufacturing cement powders and resin capsules were commissioned in late 2009, which allowed Minova to produce locally all of its core products for the Ukraine market.
The number of Minova employees in Ukraine has grown along with the increase in the company’s operations.
Minova’s chief executive in Europe, Jan Petzold, says he believes the Ukraine mining industry will experience strong growth over the next few years.
“The country has excellent coal reserves and there is great potential to improve the output and productivity of the country’s coal mining industry.
“We are working hard at introducing local industry to the kind of products and technologies that have proved very popular in other markets.
“Modern rock support, ground consolidation and ventilation products improve mine output, sometimes by a factor of even two or three times.
“But it’s the improvement in safety performance that is really attracting attention.”
