Minova operates 26 manufacturing facilities in around 11 countries. One of those sites is in India at Hyderabad. Minova is playing a leading role in the modernisation of India’s coal mining industry, the third largest in the world.
Minova introduced local coal mine operators to world-standard resin capsule bolting when it entered India in 2002 through the acquisition of a majority stake in Minetek.
Acceptance of the practice is growing as local collieries appreciate the safety and productivity advantages of resin capsule roof bolting over traditional ground support methods.
The company is the largest manufacturer of resin capsules in India and recently commissioned a second resin capsule production plant at its Hyderabad site. Minova is the only mechanised manufacturer of resin capsules in India.
Vice President (Business Development), North Europe and India, Steve Jackson, says, “Although India has increased the Coal output over the past decade, the gap between power supply and demand remains.”
“The mining practices developed in Europe and the US since the 1980s could alleviate this problem by greatly increasing productivity and safety in the underground coal mines of India."

Rajiv Pandey, the Managing Director of Minova India said Minova could also help India meet its energy needs by playing a part in hydro-electric tunnelling projects in the foothills of the Himalayas.“
The Indian Government has ambitious plans for hydro power to deliver up to 40% of the country’s electricity needs. Many of these projects will need world-best expertise in rock support and groundwater control, which Minova has developed in major tunnelling projects in Europe.”
